August is here and along with the heat, it has brought a new helping of stress to your plate. Just when you thought you had summer figured out, Target’s seasonal section was transformed into a back to school paradise.
...I really like office supplies, but you may not see paradise when you step into the aisles filled with pencils and spiral-bound notebooks. Why does your little’s teacher need the paint to be gluten-free anyway?
I don’t know about you, but July was a bittersweet disaster!
I went to a wedding, which was filled with family drama. Then we had our first visitors since we moved up to Washington when my aunt’s family took a road trip up from California to see us. But then two days after they left, I found out that my great-grandmother on the other side of my family was in the hospital and I took a spur of the moment trip down there to be with her. Unfortunately, my great grandma did not make it and passed away after two days in the hospital.
All of that on top of trying to figure out how to do life in a new state, keeping up with my photography business and all of the other regular life things.
Needless to say, I am kind of a mess right now. I feel like my body and I have been in this constant battle of finding peace. One day, I finally feel okay and then I have a difficult day and my body literally aches with tight muscles and pain when I wake up the next morning because it cannot handle the negative things life has been throwing at me lately.
August is going to be the month that I explore this and search for the unicorn that is peace from all of this stress. On top of the walks, swimming and stretching that I do to alleviate the discomfort, I plan on trying to incorporate things that I enjoy back into my life, like going outside everyday and reading actual books.
If you are like me and your circumstances have been less than ideal lately, I urge you to stay positive and celebrate the little things in life. I love making a list of bizarre holidays that are occurring throughout the month and figuring out ways to use them to make me laugh and enjoy life.
For example, August 4th is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day! I love chocolate chip cookies, so I am pretty excited to bake some and share them with my neighbors. I'm not going to lie, I will probably be eating more than a few myself!
If you would like to see my cookies and how I celebrate other bizarre holidays, you can find those stories in my posts over on Instagram!
